Security

Protecting our customers’ data is of the utmost importance to Dollar Hand. We ensure that applicants can apply safely, securely and with confidence.

With this in mind, Dollar Hand presents security guidelines to help our customers to protect their privacy and security in their daily life. Read essential security tips below to help avoid falling victim to any cybersecurity theft or fraud.

Identity Protection

It is essential to keep your identity secure. If fraudsters get access to your personal information, they can then access all your accounts which could lead to financial difficulties. With this in mind, we recommend protecting important details such as your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) which can be used to access accounts and answer verification questions.

Password And Personal Identification Numbers (PINs)

Your PINs and passwords are very important as they are what keep your accounts and ultimately your money secure. It is therefore essential to create strong PINs and passwords that are not easy to guess, and to never share these details with anyone. We also recommend using different PINs and passwords for different accounts so that if one account is compromised, then at least the others should not be at risk.

You could also use multi-factor authentication. This adds another layer of protection to your accounts.

Electronic Transactions

To ensure that your electronic transactions via phone, laptop, computer or tablet are not hacked by fraudsters, there are some key strategies you can undertake to make sure your information is kept safe. This includes avoiding using public computers which could be carrying malicious software that can record your details. You should also regularly delete your cookies on your computer as fraudsters can use them to access your private information.

Other suggestions include keeping your operating system software up to date with security such as firewall and antivirus software. You should also only make transactions online on websites that have the closed lock icon and for websites that start with “https”. Another key tip is always making sure your phone is locked when not in use with password-protected access, which ensures your information is protected if your device gets lost or stolen.

Phishing

Phishing is when cybercriminals attack individuals through email, text or phonecall. They pretend to be a legitimate sources in an attempt to obtain personal information or encourage you to click a link that could install malicious software onto your device.

To avoid phishing attacks, always read emails or text messages carefully to check if they are legit. The same goes with phone calls too. Do not respond or give any information to companies or people you do not know.

Never feel pressurised to respond to an ‘urgent request’. You can always call a company back or contact them via official channels online to find out if the form of communication you received was legitimate.
